    Description

You're bidding on an unusual, large - 10 3/4" tall and about 11" max width - Art Nouveau-period silverplate loving cup trophy vase. It's basically a wide urn vase form, but with three naturalistic handles - cast to suggest an Art-and-Crafts type hand wrought vibe. Bottom marked as Quadruple Plate, by the Barbour Silver Co.
It also has a fun inscription - hard to read in the photos, so I will translate - "Henry & Edna Amann - This Loving Cup in honor of a quarter-century of worthy life together, is given by their friends in the Composing Room of the Springfield Republican, April 28, 1905." The composing room, I just learned myself, is basically the typesetting room of a newspaper. I found a bit of info indicating that Henry retired in 1922 as a Foreman, after 28 years at the Republican. Edna passed away in 1908. The Republican, founded in 1824, still operates to this day in Springfield, MA.
Selling this piece As Is As Found - there appears to be varying decrees of wear to the plating and I believe it might be spotty or patchy when polished, so you the buyer can decide whether to leave it with its grungy patina or gussy it up. Some pitting evident, primarily topside, around the rim. It does have one dent, on the back-left side (see photo).
A quite unusual piece, though - I have not seen anything quite like it - p
