Vintage A.S. Aloe Co. Transit With Original Wood Tripod

Description

Vintage A.S. Aloe Co. Transit. Stamped 6127 on the compass face. The brass has excellent patina. Wood tripod is in excellent condition. It is missing some pieces. The original compass needle is missing. There is a home-made replacement. See last picture. I believe the compass originally had a glass cover. Additionally, I believe some of the sighting mechanism in front of the compass is missing along with two small levels. Still, an interesting display piece of what I believe is an early example.
